Purpose

The University of Bahrain aims to have reasonable, safe, and comfortable accommodation policy/strategy implemented, including adequately funded mechanism for persons with disabilities.

Glossary of Terms/Definitions

On-campus Accommodation: refers to having a dwelling place within the University’s premises.

Disability: refers to a person who has a debilitating physical or mental condition that limits their senses.

 

Scope/Application

Policy on Accommodation especially Those with Disabilities applies to:

  1. All faculty members with teaching, research, or librarianship responsibilities, including visiting, adjunct, and part-time faculty.
  2. All students enrolled in the University, whether full-time, part-time; or undergraduate and postgraduates.
  3. All accommodation units affiliated with the University, along with all the logistics.

 

Policy Statement and Principles

  1. The University provides accommodation facilities for all expatriate staff, international students including those with disabilities.
  2. The  Policy is supported by the following principles:
    • The University provides accommodation for all international students and expatriate staff including those with disabilities.
    • The University ensures that all accessibility to accommodation and university building are possible with no or minimum aid to those with disabilities.
    • The University offers all expatriate staff the opportunity to reside on or off-campus upon its discretion.
    • the University offers international students on campus accommodation facilities upon its discretion.
