• Expanding the public transportation system within the 2 campuses in collaboration with Ministry of Transportation (Adding one extra major stop in 2020 in Sakhir Campus).
• Reached an advanced stage of negotiation with a Smart Scooter Company to run their business within Sakhir Campus with affordable fares (will operate by March 2020)
• UoB, alongside its master plan consultant, is going through initial negotiations with the Ministry of Transportation to include UoB Sakhir camps in the plans for Bahrain Metro – Phase 1.

The University of Bahrain undertook a number of measures to ensure more sustainable commuting throughout the last two years. Increasing the percentage of sustainable commuting between staff, faculty and students is one of the priorities of the Engineering Office at the University. Students are constantly encouraged to practice carpooling. Other measures (incentives or charges) are being considered to increase carpooling. UoB constantly review the utilization ratio of its mass transportation service provided for the students. This results in providing the services in an optimum way both financially and environmentally (Best Stops, Best Routes, Optimum times)

The University also aspires to initiate a Smart Scooter project in collaboration with MTT; negotiation is now in its final stages. Lastly, UoB, alongside its master plan consultant, is going through initial negotiations with the Ministry of Transportation to include UoB Sakhir camps in the plans for Bahrain Metro – Phase 1.
