A number of the university’s distinguished academics took part in the seminar

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership at the University of Bahrain is holding, on Monday and Tuesday, 22-23 June, a virtual seminar for  faculty members  at the University of Bahrain and local private universities under the title: “Innovative Academic Practices in the Time of (COVID-19)”.  The seminar will be held to present the innovative electronic practices which have been used during the emergency electronic transformation process and have proven successful during the exceptional circumstances in facing the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

The Director of the Post Graduate Certificate for Academic Practice Program (PCAP), Dr. Thoraya Abdul Rahman Al-Mansouri, said the Corona pandemic constituted a sharp and important turning point for workers in the education sectors in general, and the higher education sector in particular. She pointed out that in the current circumstances, remote e-learning was the only option for workers in the education sector

Dr. Al-Mansouri mentioned that higher education institutions – including the University of Bahrain – have witnessed a successful radical transformation towards electronic learning and evaluation within a relatively short period of time. The reasons are attributed to the persistence of the academic staff, the support of the administrative and technical staff and all workers in the educational sector, and their unwavering commitment to adapt to the requirements of the current situation with consummate professionalism to create an ideal educational learning environment during an exceptional new circumstance.

Dr. Al-Mansouri noted that a number of academics had recorded exceptional accomplishments that would be of great value to colleagues in their field. She added that all these accomplishments contributed to the success of the educational learning process in an effective way through using academic practices and innovative skills.

It is expected that more than forty-five academics will participate in the seminar. They will share their academic experiences and their success stories in addressing the pandemic through e-learning.
