This policy allows academics and students to engage in activities to tackle poverty in all its aspects at the national and international level.

Purpose

Participate in Policy Work addressing Poverty to provide a clear statement of the position of the University with regards to policymaking addressing poverty in all of its forms.

Definitions

Participation in policy work: refers to the contribution of the relevant party in drafting and revising policies.

Poverty: refers to the state of an individual or group existing below the minimum living standard.

Scope/Application

Participate in Policy Work addressing Poverty applies to:

  1. All faculty members with teaching, research, or librarianship responsibilities, including visiting, adjunct, and part-time faculty.
  2. All students enrolled in the university, whether full-time, part-time; or undergraduate and postgraduates.

Policy Statement and Principles

  1. The University, being part of the government, is directly and indirectly involved and has contributed to tackling poverty in the Kingdom.
  2. The Participate in Policy Work addressing Poverty is supported by the following principles:
    • The University human resources, including faculty, staff and students, are encouraged to participate in any work that the overall aim is to tackle poverty locally and globally.
    • The students’ fees are noticeably subsidized to aid students to receive quality higher education at a highly reasonable cost.
    • The courses’ reference books are subsidized to all students enrolled in the university.
    • Transportation is freely provided to all University’s students which reach many areas of the Kingdom, including towns and villages.
    • Buses also provide transportation between the University’s campuses are provided free of charge and follow is fixed schedule throughout university time.
    • The University welcomes research proposals that explore practices and techniques that can help in tackling poverty locally and globally.
    • The University is willing to collaborate in charitable events and with other organizations with the main and secondary goals of tackling local and global poverty.
    • The University supports its affiliates medically through partnership and concessions.
