This collaboration of the UOB with the CMS experiment project was supported by SEARCH center of Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research. Such local and international collaboration is an important step for the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve further global cooperation in science, technology and innovation. For the year 2019, UOB teams working on this international collaboration have engaged in two-induction project. The first one from the College of Information Technology (IT) to work on improving the current program to select the important data resulting from the collision of protons. The second from the Department of Mechanical Engineering to design and build a special motorized jig and a platform insertion for the maintenance of the CMS. Also so far 4 undergraduate students from College of IT and College of Science have did a 2 months of summer training at CERN. This collaboration provides lifelong learning opportunity to UoB students as well as initiating a research platform to create innovative solutions to tackle SDGs.
