Providing teachers with worksheets and ideas to raise students’ awareness of the UN Sustainability Development goals
Taking the initiative to create a sustainable university
The British Council in collaboration with the English Language Centre at the University of Bahrain held a two-day workshop for faculty members on the 5th and 6th February 2019. The sessions were held at the Crown Plaza with a total number of 25 faculty members from the University. This workshop aimed at providing teachers with worksheets and ideas to raise students’ awareness of the UN Sustainability Development goals. The workshop material was rich with resources like worksheets, films and graphs about all the goals. The British Council delivered the sessions which were part of the Environment Week about Goal 13- Climate Change.
The two-day workshop had a strong impact on the improvement of the Foundation Year curriculum. The curriculum has been modified and more activities were introduced, particularly the Speaking and Listening module and the Reading module, to create awareness of SDG goals within a normal learning environment. The activity also aims to help build young real-world problem solvers that are aware of the challenges that surround them.
