UoB has been arranging several events on climate change risks, impacts, mitigation, impact reduction and early warning. Around 200 researchers attended Prof Philippe Ciais lecture regarding climate change effects and actions, which was hosted by UoB. He has shared his experience as a researcher of the Laboratories des Sciences du Climate et de Environment (LSCE), the climate change research unit of the Institute Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL) in France. He presented the recent trends in the carbon cycle, characterized by the recent fast growth of emissions and by a slowing trend of natural sinks. As the kingdom of Bahrain is a part of the Climate action Paris agreement, this collaboration with the LSCE approaches to tackle SDG 13 through dialogue, sharing best practice and comparative approaches.
