On 1st April 2019, the University of Bahrain held Big Data Symposium 2019 and the Official Launch of MSc. in Big Data Science and Analytics with Liverpool John Moore’s University at Wyndham Grand Manama from 8:30 am -2:00 pm.
The half-day event brought together industry leaders, IT professionals and representatives from private and public sectors both from Bahrain and overseas to share insights, challenges, and opportunities provided by big data. How to turn big data into smart data is the value proposition that organizations around the world are finding challenging. It also aimed at equipping participants with state-of-the-art computer science skills to process huge amounts of data, as well as teaching them modern statistical analysis methods and how to create new data services.
Through cooperation with one of the top 500 world universities a new master program in Big Data Science and Analytics was developed and recently launched to be the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain and among the first among the GCC. This unique program reflects the aspiration of the University of Bahrain to move in executing its transformation plan 2016-2021 by introducing multidisciplinary postgraduates programs. The program aims at providing students with deep subject-knowledge combined with practical learning using advanced software and high performing computing towards effective use of big data in order to provide effective and efficient solutions to real-world problems.
The Kingdom of Bahrain has become a hub for technology, attracting Fintech companies and startups from around the world that are based on a platform led by disruptive technology. The new economy is the data economy. This new programme will provide the skillsets to allow graduates to use data like never before, as a source of innovation and redesign.
